Hardbound in deep red leather fully decorated in lovely embossed gold and black- a gold illustration of birth of venus is set into top board and gold titling is set against black label on banded spine. Binding square and hinges tight. Rear board is superficially rubbed over surface and a few minor imperfections can be seen in gilding of front cover. Small bump in crown of spine. A few minor scratches around gilt text block. Crisp pages otherwise unmarked between moiré silk endpapers. Includes sewn-in silk page marker, publishers unused bookplate and an envelope containing two maps of Florence.
