Special gift edition hardbound in deep brown tooled leather. Spine titled in gilt with five raised bands- binding remains square and hinges secure. Gilt dentelles on inner squares and edges. Boards are moderately rubbed around edges. Corners slightly turned in. Bands of spine rubbed. Full gilt text block shows only minor imperfection. Toned pages with b/w engravings from Mary A. Hallcock throughout. Sepia title page protected by tissue. Both marbled endpapers cracked in gutter and front fly split at hinge 2.5 inches from bottom. An owners signature, dated 1877, marks first blank.
