Complete five volume set bound in full calf. Decorated with gilt outer edges, lining and titling on spine. Spine with five bands has title set into red and green labels. Full marbled text block and matching endpapers. Different b/w frontis for each volume and thin blue ribbon sewn-in. Several illustrative plates and folding maps through volumes. Books remain in very good condition- all bindings are securely attached and square, text unmarked. Bookplate on front pastedown of each. Leather is worn around edges with corners bumped to varying degrees. Bit of cracking in labels. Volume 3 crown crushed at front corner and volume 1 ribbon has broken off. Overall a lovely set, presenting very well with bright spine gilding.
