Petite hardcover bound in marbled calf with gilt decoration around outer edges. Boards are lightly scratched over surface with denser scratching and rubbing around margins. Gilding heavily rubbed away on top and bottom edges. Corners turned in. Binding squared and hinges secure. Spine titled in gilt against black and red label and decorated with stamped gold bird detailing. Spine leather is cracking though text is still readable. Text block marked by patina with occasional white spotting around edges. Once gilt top edge is dimly dulled. 430p. Pages remain remarkably bright for age with only occasional toned spots throughout. A previous owners bookplate is stuck to front pastedown.
