Delphian Text (Incomplete, 10 Vol. Set)
Chicago: The Delphian Society, 1925. 1st. 8Vo Hardcover. Good. Item #78793
The Delphian Society, a collective founded in 1910 in Chicago, devoted themselves to the education of women. Volumes such as these were published covering a range of topics from history, philosophy, science, literature, ethics, and art for a woman to learn from without the assistance of a teacher. A partial history of etiquette, the art of the conversation, education and women's studies- these would make a wonderful addition to a variety of collector's shelves.
Our ten volume set includes volumes 1-8 and 17-18. All bound in brown leatherette over boards with gold foil titling. All binding is tight, secure- few show minor canting. Leather is worn around corners, moderately aged and titling beginning to fade on a few volumes. Each has a large price penciled on front endpaper though remain otherwise unmarked inside. Remainder mark in ink on bottom of text block for vol 4.
