This first edition set has clean black boards with white titling and straight edges. Volume 4 has rubbed corners. Spines are uncreased with softly creased edges. Volumes 1-4 have yellowing on spines and some back covers. All volumes have a slightly cigar smell. Volume 3 has light creasing down hinges. Text blocks are square. Volumes 3 has toned edges. Bindings are firm. Interiors are completely unmarked with colored and b/w illustrations through out.
