In fair- condition. First American edition hardbound in creme cloth over boards. Top board and spine titled in gilt with tri-tonal, black, peach and green illustration. Boards are moderately edge worn with tanned spine and red staining around top board margins. Damp staining marks spine edge of rear board and runs through to gutter and top edge of pages. Foxing to both covers. Rear hinge full detached from text block and front hinge beginning to separate at crown. 276p. An ex-libris sticker marks pastedowns and owner's name on blank. Text is unmarked with beautiful b/w illustrations throughout- damp staining does not appear to interfere with decoration or text. Deckled text block with gilt top edge slightly dulled.
