Black Diamonds Gathered in the Darkey Homes of the South

Pudney & Russell Publishers, 1859. 1st edition. Hardcover. 12mo. Good. Item #76407

A pro-slavery collection of letters from Edward A. Pollard to his friend in the North- notably advocating for reopening of the slave trade and as a "candid" view of black people from a Southerner. Petite hardcover hardbound in brown stamped cloth. Boards are worn around edges with small eroded spots dotting both boards. Once gilt titled spine is made illegible by heavy chipping to its edges. Binding remains square and mostly secure aside from a slightly loose bottom thread at front hinge. 122p. Toned pages unmarked between sun faded green endpapers. Front fly has small oil stain in upper corner.

*This book does not represent the views of Chamblin's but is a relevant text that should not be forgotten as a part of history*.
