About Us

Chamblin Bookmine is a general Used and Rare Bookstore, covering all categories of fiction and non-fiction books. The stock also includes back issue magazines, used videos and DVD’s.  The browser will find that the stock has about five percent of new books. Chamblin Bookmine provides a means for customers to exchange books that they have read or do not need, for books that they wish to read or collect.  The Bookmine also special orders new books for customers.  Used book credit can be used to pay for new books and audio/video rentals.

Chamblin Bookmine has a reasonably large assortment of collectable and rare books in safekeeping from theft, and intends to make these books available as soon as space is acquired for proper display.

Although book “collecting” for investment, or for satisfying the collecting need, is one aspect of the book world, Chamblin Bookmine is more interested in the “reading” aspect of books.  The contents of a book, the ideas, the stories, the history, the sciences, the adventure within, is more important to our philosophy of bookselling than is the sale of a collectible or rare book to a well-healed collector.  This philosophy is why the average price of our books are so much lower than the books within a more “specialized” used and rare bookstore.  We do of course, buy and sell rare books. However, our acceptance of “all” categories and types of books allows us to have a huge sales volume in the low and medium priced books, and therefore we do not have to “depend” on the acquisition and selling of the expensive rare books in order to prosper.  To our operation, the sale of an expensive rare book is the occasional bonus.

Chamblin Bookmine buys and sells both the reading copy and the rare book, but seeks primarily to concentrate more on being a buyer and seller of books used for the pleasure of reading, the exploration of knowledge, and secondarily on the buying and selling of rare and collectible books.

Because our primary objective is to provide our Jacksonville customers with a large, varied, and interesting selection of titles, we have only recently started selling books to “out-of-towners” via the Internet.  Also, because we want to maintain as many semi-scarce and interesting titles for our Jacksonville customers, we do not cater aggressively to out-of-state book dealers by offering large quantity discounts.
